Azores: Furnas – a village on a volcano

A walk through the village of Furnas among the hot springs, optionally to the Poça da Dona Beija thermal baths or Terra Nostra park, then a short drive to Lagoa das Furnas and on foot along the shore to the place where cozido is cooked in the ground. POÇA DA DONA BEIJA: tickets online and in advance only (they have not been sold on site since March 2024), for an hour and a half, adults €12. They cannot be cancelled or exchanged. PARQUE TERRA NOSTRA: admission €17 for adults, €14.50 for children and seniors, including a dip in the thermal pool. Tickets online or on site. LAGOA DAS FURNAS: entry to the caldeiras area by the lake costs €3 per person (children under 12 and Azores residents go in without paying); parking costs nothing. Order cozido at a restaurant in advance – it is lifted out of the ground between eleven and one.
