Kouklia, Cyprus

Cyprus: Aphrodite's Rock and Palaipaphos

🚶 2.6 km · 📍 6 stops · ⏱ ~210 min

From the rock in the sea where Hesiod has Aphrodite being born, on to the old city of Paphos at Kouklia, where one of the most visited sanctuaries of the ancient world stood — and where the goddess had neither a statue nor a human likeness. At the end, the village with its Lusignan manor and sugar works, and nearby Geroskipou, whose name describes what grew here for the pilgrims. NOTE: you need a car between the stops; each part is then walked on foot.
