The only walk on the northern side of the island, in a town that was among the richest in the world in the fourteenth century and then lost absolutely everything. Walls, a Gothic cathedral turned into a mosque, a tower the British named after a Shakespeare play, and finally the view of Varosha — a luxury resort its inhabitants left in the course of a single August day, and which nobody could enter for over forty years afterwards.
