The whole of Kato Paphos is a UNESCO site and one of the few places where you can walk over the floors of Roman villas whose mosaics look as though somebody finished them last week. From the harbour fort past the villas of Dionysos and Theseus, the crusader castle that stood for nine years, the church with St Paul's column and the catacombs with a tree hung with pilgrims' wishes, out to an underground city of the dead cut into the rock above the sea.
