A day-long trip through the mountains in the middle of the island: the wine village of Omodos, a waterfall in the pine forest, the island's highest peak with a British radar, a UNESCO-listed Byzantine church whose frescoes survived only thanks to one country builders' trick, the richest monastery in Cyprus with an icon nobody may look at, and finally the first president's tomb on a viewpoint above the monastery. NOTE: you drive between the stops, about 90 km of mountain hairpins in all. The church at Kakopetria is closed on Mondays. In winter there is snow and roads are often closed.
