Vienna: the Inner City and the Ring

The historic core of Vienna (~4 km, flat, 3 h). From the Stephansdom along the Graben and through the Hofburg to the Opera, then round the Ring to the parliament, the city hall and the Burgtheater. The optional side trip to Schönbrunn goes by U-Bahn and adds a good two and a half hours. All of it outdoors and open all year; the churches are free, the tower, the opera and the palace are not.
